Biosignatures

Biosignatures are observations that may be consistent with biological activity. Examples can include atmospheric chemistry, chemical disequilibrium, surface features or combinations of measurements that are difficult to explain through known nonbiological processes.

No single intriguing signal should automatically be called evidence of life. Context and multiple lines of evidence matter.

Technosignatures

Technosignatures are possible signs of technology. Searches may examine radio signals, optical signals, unusual energy patterns, atmospheric chemistry, artificial light, waste heat, orbital behavior or other observations that could have technological explanations.

Natural processes and instrument effects can mimic unusual signals. The evidence ladder must remain strict.

From SETI to multimodal intelligence search

Traditional SETI has often focused on radio and optical searches. Those remain important. AI makes it practical to compare more forms of information at the same time.

A future system could combine radio, spectra, images, light curves, atmospheric measurements, orbital information, high energy observations and scientific literature. The goal is not to make extraordinary claims easier. It is to make the search more comprehensive.

Exoplanets create a powerful bridge between public exploration and real research. Could we ever communicate?

If humanity eventually discovers credible evidence of a technological civilization, the next question would be whether meaningful communication is possible.

The distances involved are enormous and the technology used by another civilization may be unfamiliar. Communication might take years, centuries or longer. It may use physical principles or channels we have not yet learned to exploit.

Advances in AI, quantum science, photonics, neuroscience, signal processing, sensors and autonomous systems may eventually create detection or communication methods we cannot currently predict.

This is a research frontier, not a promise.

The project can build source maps, data connectors, anomaly review systems, citizen science pathways, multimodal models and interdisciplinary research notes.
