Space Buddy

Product direction: the capabilities and example conversations below describe planned Space Buddy work, not a released application.

Space Buddy is an AI powered interactive universe explorer being developed to make exploring space feel immersive, intelligent and effortless.

The product plan combines a digital planetarium, a navigable 3D universe, a conversational AI companion, scientific data connections, immersive experiences, citizen science and community participation.

One experience, several layers

AI Space View is the visual universe canvas: live sky, planets, missions, surfaces, 3D assets and free roam navigation.

Space Buddy is the conversational guide: explain, suggest, navigate, remember context, recommend experiences and connect users to the right tool or dataset.

FloBrain is the underlying memory, context and tool coordination layer.

CosmosIntelligence is the research, education and technology initiative that connects the product to the Cosmic Graph, AI astronomy and public participation.

Core experience

Users should be able to begin from the real sky above them, select a location and time, identify objects, leave the local sky, travel through the supported universe and ask questions naturally throughout the experience.

Space Buddy can explain what the user is seeing, transport them to another object, compare worlds, open a NASA visualization, query scientific data, guide a tour, remember interests and suggest a relevant next step.

AI companion

The planned assistant supports text and two way audio. It can speak explanations while synchronized captions appear, keep track of the current target and preserve user controlled exploration memory.

NASA and scientific integrations

Space Buddy is designed around documented interfaces rather than rebuilding every experience. NASA Eyes can provide 3D mission and object visualization. Solar System Treks can provide planetary surfaces. NASA 3D Resources can support native XR. JPL Horizons and the NASA Exoplanet Archive can provide research grade data. Citizen science programs can provide a path from curiosity to contribution.

Community and events

An optional community universe can let users explore together while keeping the focus on science, learning and discovery. A source aware news and community hub can connect astrophotography, research, space news and discussion. Space Buddy can recommend astronomical events and community activities based on user controlled interests.

VR, AR and XR

Space Buddy can extend the same exploration model into VR and AR. Users could stand beside a spacecraft, inspect a rover, orbit a planet or follow a guided spatial tour while the AI companion explains what they are seeing.

Citizen science

The most important transition is from looking to participating. Space Buddy should guide users from an object or question into a real citizen science project when an appropriate program exists.
