Space Buddy is not a chatbot placed beside a space visualization. It is the guide that understands what the user is looking at, chooses the right tool, explains the science and helps decide where to go next.

Users can ask questions and issue navigation commands by voice. Space Buddy can speak its response while synchronized text captions appear in the interface.
Voice and text must use the same sources, context and tool actions. Spoken answers should not become an ungrounded shortcut around the scientific provenance system.

The assistant routes each request to the best supported visualization or data source.

Memory and context
FloBrain can retain user controlled information such as favorite objects, previous questions, visited locations, learning activities and unfinished research tasks.
This allows Space Buddy to say things like:
“You have been following Europa. Europa Clipper has a new mission update. Would you like to see it?”
“You previously explored TRAPPIST 1. There is a related exoplanet research activity you can try.”
Memory must always have visible user controls.

Guided exploration
The assistant can run structured tours. A Mars tour might move from the planet to Jezero Crater, Perseverance, its instruments, related scientific questions and a citizen science activity.
Guided experiences should combine visuals, data, explanations and clear source links.

Grounded explanations
Space Buddy should distinguish measured facts, model dependent interpretations and speculative possibilities. It should cite the underlying NASA, JPL, archive or research source when technical claims matter.
